What do you build your mega tree out of?

I'm looking at building a 15ft mega tree + star for my display. I have 75 nodes per strand x 14 strands. I have the pole, I need suggestions on what to build the strands out of so that the pixels will stay lined up and facing forward. I have considered using wire / conduit but it just doesn't seem right. Does anybody have any ideas and/or pics?

Although the USPS flat rate postage boxes to get them here are not cheap
I missed the bulk buy last year, so I ordered some recently - the freight cost as much as the product ???
