I'm in the process of putting the water proof pigtails on my lights and power supply.

The light wires are not double coated so they are a flat ribbin and the pigtails are round.

What technique do some of you use to insure water tightness?

I like to use the adhesive lined heatshrink....
I use it for each wire pair and then a larger piece to cover all 3/4 pairs.
As Shell said, if you don't have that just squirt a bit of silicone (ensure it is GE silicone II) in at both ends of the heatshrink and apply heat...
I think I paid 8$ for 25meters of the 9.5mm and another 10$ for 25meters of the 3.2mm (3 to 1 shrink ratio). It seems to fit pretty good for 20 or 18 gauge wire.

The Heat shrink silicone combo was the road I was heading down, but better to find out what others have done since I never did it. :)

Added GE silicone II to my Lowes shopping list. :)

GE Silicon II is anything that is neutral cure, if you can try and get a clear one so you can keep an eye on things
