From a price perspective, these look good for some props and beats using bullets or strips. It looks like people have made arches and mini trees with them. I think I am going to add props next year with these. Trying to get some inspiration now to plan for 2024.
It has been a while since I have thought about adding. Money, time, etc all get in the way. However, technology changes and doing what I wanted appears at first to be much easier or at least more the way I wanted to go about it. I have wanted to put permanent lights under my eaves. The DIY...
For reference to get an idea of spacing, this is 2" spacing around my windows from my sidewalk (~40 feet). If this helps in estimating spacing, any other input would be appreciated. Brightness is at 30%.
2" Spacing around windows
I have already received the pixels. I have 4,000 (40 x 100/strand). If I go with 1" spacing, I can only do 24 strands this year. That would be a ~12 foot tree (~3.5m). That would be 150 pixels/strand for a total of 3,600 pixels. I would need to make 25 (need one for spare in case one goes out)...
I have received 40x strands of 100 bullet nodes. These are to finish out the basic design of the house and mega tree. I am estimating 800 nodes to do the eaves of the house. That leaves the overall design of the mega tree. I have a few limitations that would define the height of the tree and...
Yep! That is my OCD and ADHD kicking in. If I didn't get it resolved by trying it today, I would have just gotten more mad and frustrated all day long about it.
Well, stoopid mistake. The issue was an SD card greater than 32GB. Even formatted at FAT32, the F16v3 doesn't read it correctly. It was a $25 mistake that I won't make again. With no stores open but convenience and grocery stores, I paid a premium for my sanity.
I followed the instructions to upgrade my firmware to a T. After updating, it says to remove the SD card and power off then on. I did that. All that is happening now is the OLED screen says "Bootloader V2" flashes over to "Booting controller...". All it does is repeat this and never getting past...
After looking at different options and not wanting to drill a million holes, I ordered some ChromaTrim to test. I first mounted it to PVC, but I think that will be too flexible. I then tried 1/2" EMT. That is far more sturdy and hides well under my eaves. I am making a huge assumption that the...
Right there with you brother. I may only be about 2 weeks ahead. I just got my controller this week. My recommendation as a complete newbie as well is to play around with xlights because you don't need anything to learn it a bit.
Personally, I do not like the strip lights. That's just me though. I am going with the pixel nodes and trying to determine spacing. My original thought was 3", but thinking 4 or 6" as well. I will do a similar test as you did and have them at varying spacing to see what I think looks good from...
Thanks for the info. When I know what I want to do spacing wise, I will work with Ray Wu probably to get the custom spacing. Someone mentioned to plan for 5-6" custom spacing if I want 4" spacing. They said it would not be exact and that I would want the extra bit of length.
I went to the...
I will see if I can join this afternoon US. I wish I would have known before this morning to better plan for it. If not, hopefully they load the video to their YouTube channel.
I haven't done anything yet. All I can say is that I am getting into it for the joy of Christmas and hopefully put a smile on 1 person's face. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake.
