just a quick question as I dont seem to have seen it anywhere.

Is is possible to get a BBB (non wifi version) to see a usb to wifi adaptor so that one can have wifi as well as the ethernet .
If so , what is the best way and easiest way as I would like to be able to connect to the BBB but still run the show via the ethernet.

I use an old ADSL wifi router as my main distribution point for my show. The show is controlled via a Pi and goes out to lots of stuff but I have wifi access to everything via the router. I reckon that would be a more convenient option for you than a usb wifi adaptor.

I couldn’t get it to recognise my cheap Chinese 802.11n USB wifi dongles.

It depends on the chipset. Most of the 2.4ghz only 150MB and 300Mb chips work. Most of the dual mode and 5ghz only do not. That said, the chips that we include specific drivers for are rtl8812au, rtl8192cu, rtl8723bu, rtl8192eu rtl8723au, rtl8822bu, rtl8812au.

I can now confirm that the Edimax EW-7722UTNV2 and EW-7611ULB USB to wifi adaptor are seen by the BeagleBone on power up and give you wifi access.
This will give you wifi acess that so that you can use these as a wifi connected remote and still have the Lan connection free to use for another purpose.

Will the beaglebone run both a USB wifi and USB DAC for sound output via a USB hub?

How do you get sound out of the Beaglebone if the USB is being used for wifi? Can you run a USB sound card and wifi dongle via a USB hub?
