For basic panel setups, they could work - for anything mildly complex, or for any panel type that's not supported, a ColorLight is the go-to.
But given a Colorlight is around $25; and an octoscrolla $29 + BBB $97 = $126 - it's not worth it when a drop in replacement card is easier, cheaper and will 'just work'.

could never get P5 panels to work right on a octoscroller.
