I've got a few of these cables and noticed an oddity - the spine of the T seems to be a female connector. Currently I'm running female out of my controller, so if I want to do power injection, I either need to have a male to male extension cable, or have male coming out of the power distribution board.

Has anyone else come across this issue before? Seems stupid to have a female connector on the spine - would have thought a male connector on the spine plus another on the cross section would have made more sense!

So what do you all do (those that use these cables anyway)? Male to Male connectors? Male pins coming off the power supply/distribution? Some other wizardry?

My theory is based on standards, such as mains plugs. If it has power it is female and you plug a male into it. Saves accidentally touching high voltage, or in our case, saves shorting out low voltage.

That's what my thinking was!

So really my only way around this if I want to keep my standard is to use a cable with male plugs on each end

I got some short male-male cables to add to the t pieces to fix the gender.

Solder away and make your own!! Remember to cover solder joint in heat shrink and fill with neutral core silicon to waterproof ,then heat the heat shrink
to seal everything.

I think your right, the holiday coro diagram is typical of how I wire my pigtails, I've only ever purchased strings from Ray with either JST or no pigtails so always soldered on my own to my own weird / crazy standard

If all three conductors are "common" as such, it probably wouldn't matter .. but if he's dropped the data line in the middle then it may be difficult to make work.. I'm probably going to try order one next year just to test with, I have the ray-wu one's which I haven't used because they're backwards to how I like things
