Take a photo of your house, then watch other peoples lights videos, then work out a) what you like and b) what will work on your house and property.

Welcome to the funny farm. Good start right there. I printed that out and read it over and over until I thought I had a handle on it and then kept it in my shed to refer back to until I understood. It seems a bit daunting at first, but then it seems to make sense.
Never be afraid to ask questions, because the only dumb question, is the one you don't ask.
