Flat Tree design

Hi guys
as I don't have much space I'm thinking of doing a Flat mega tree sort of mini version ie in the fact that it will only be about 2.1 metres high , all the threads seem to say base should be half of height , so my question is a 2.1 m high x about 1.1 m wide flat tree pixels spaced at 1" (boscoyo strip) 12 strands of 85 pixels on each , would that look ok to display text and images? or is it just plain too small?

Mine is 3mt high, 16 strands. I went for about a two inch spacing at the bottom, but then I just went by eye to get the spacing. I can measure up overall width if that helps you?

looks good , thanks , I'm guessing it will be 800 roughly wide, but that might be a bit of an answer I can go to 16 strands same height but maybe 3" spacing at bottom
might be better that will only be 8 universes or 1 receiver board

The 1 inch spacing will produce quite good graphics and text, but I'd extend to 16 strands if you can.
my flat tree is 16 strands of 50 pixels at 2 inch spacing, about 2.4m tall, about 1.5m wide at base.

yeah I'm thinking 1" spacing down the strands and 3 inch spacing at the bottom between strips 8 universes 1 x 600w 12v supply should power it all

Mines also 3m high and i use ws2811 strip

It has 30 pixels on 12 strings and uses 1 12v power supply

what i'm interested is the spacing between the strips/strings at the top and the bottom

At the top mine is almost touching, a few mm difference. At the base its around 40 to 45 to 50 mm gap.

Dont worry too much if the gap at the bottom is out by mm at the bottom. The tree is generally viewed from a fair distance away and is not noticable. Lay your strip down on the cross posts and space them out by measure and eye. Then use a texta and mark where the hole is going to be. Dont rush it - measure twice drill once

thanks Brad , not having done this before i only want to make this thing once hate doing things twice and I don't want a p10 panel or matrix as such so I'm hoping it will look good touching at the top would be 25mm then 50mm at the bottom with 25mm between nodes should be ok I think

Hi Oz you're using nodes rather than strip it looks like , how did you secure the strip at top and bottom? and did you line up the strip starting from the top or bottom?

nodes on boscoyo strip. lined up strips at top, strips looped over and then looped onto pipe, screw inserted thru one of the cable tie holes to keep in place
bottom of strip looped over and held on using short bungee cords with bobble on end, different lengths/adjustments to take into account length changing as went further out
probably the world's worst set up, but it mostly worked

so there's a bit of a curve in the rows not straight across each line of nodes?

i've used turnbuckles at the bottom it stretches the boscoyo strip enough to make them straight , i'm going to zip tie 4mm rod in 2 lines across the front and they should all face forwards and not turn and be pretty much dead straight in line
