Hi all,
Just thought I would start a quick thread of what I am looking at doing for Halloween.

Now this is my first year with the whole sequenced light thing, so I am looking at using Halloween as a bit of a test run so to speak.

I am looking at using some of my props which are nice and easy to set up including
House Outline
Spiral Trees (with stars removed)
Arches & Sticks
2 x Wall Trees (42 node x 12 Strand) pixel matrix in the shape of a flat tree. I am using these to for some basic singing faces.
and some flood lights.
As well as P10 Tune To Sign

Here is a pic of my layout

I defined the node ranges for the singing faces in Xlights as I wanted the simple type faces for the Wall tree matrices.

Then I was after a way to add some Halloween spookiness, in particular I was looking for a way to utilise the Ray Wu stars attached to the top of my sticks (here is how they look

)

I was looking for some cheap Jack o lantern type pumpkins to fit over the stars and found some Pumpkin Masks on Ebay.

So I made some quick coro supports which fit over the stars

I also cut out the mouths and eye sections a little more for the light to shine thru

They come up ok, and should look good at night

I don't have any animated props for our Halloween display, will just add some static props to give a bit of a Halloween theme.

Here is a quick screen shot from one of my Halloween sequences

I have done some very basic Halloween Sequences (also thanks to a couple of ACL members @OzAz & @djgra79 who shared some of their Halloween sequences with me).

Basically looking at having the following sequences
Monster Mash
Thriller
Ghostbusters
This is Halloween (from the shared sequence google drive)
I may add another if I get time, but the main reason for the Halloween display is a bit of test run before Christmas.

I have uploaded some of the preview videos of these here

Nice idea using the masks.
I was going to wait until Christmas before heading up to view your display, but by the looks of it I might check out your Halloween show.
Can you message me when you have it set up and running, thanks

Hi all,

My Halloween Light Display is up and running.

Here is a video of one sequence I am running as part of the display "This is Halloween", Thanks to Bill Porter for sharing this sequence which is available from the shared google drive.

I just filmed this on my phone, so such the colours don't really show up to great in the videos (they look a lot better in person).

A quick update.

A couple of eagle eye ACL members noticed the two arches on the left were both lighting up at the same time, to be honest I was just happy it all sort of worked and didn't really notice it at first until it was pointed out to me.

It was great feedback as I had managed to incorrectly number a virtual string output in the Falcon pixel controller web interface, so I have it all sorted now and the aches are lighting up as per the sequence. (sorry I haven't filmed the display again yet).

Thanks for the feedback guys, and thus Halloween has been a good test of part of my planned xmas display and allowing me to sort some little bugs out.

Nice job. Clever idea to cover the stars with pumpkin masks so those lights are quickly interchangeable between halloween and Christmas.
