Quick and dirty show start button

Hi everyone! Since the last (also quick and dirty) start button for my show died on the last day, I decided to make a new one. But because I only have 2 days left, I only spent two hours to create my button: It is magnet mounted on my letterbox and the people can select a show and start it...

Beaglebone FPP and P5 panels with FM6126 controller (solution)

Thank you :) As I find out how to enable this with all 8 and not only output 1 of the Octoscroller, I will submit a full request.

Beaglebone FPP and P5 panels with FM6126 controller (solution)

Hi everyone! After buying some P5 panels I really had issues getting them to work. My friend Falk found out they were using the FM6126A driver, which need a initialization sequence. First tries with a RPI and using the RPI-RGB-LED-Matrix library (https://github.com/hzeller/rpi-rgb-led-matrix)...

BBB Diffcape - A simple and cheap differential controller

Hi everyone! Because my WLED and ESPixelstick setup didn't work very well (17 controllers with much lag within the show) and Falcon or Kulp controllers are not so fast available where I live, I designed a very simple and cheap differential cape for the Beaglebone black. It has no protection...

Build guide Cheap & easy hula hoop arches

Hi! Sorry for the delayed reply. I got it from a German seller hula-hoop-shop.eu (here in Germany it is very hard to get stuff to build props) I know I am a bit mislocated for this forum, but here seems to be the nicest community :) The per-meter hula hoop is made of HDPE. I found some...

Build guide Cheap & easy hula hoop arches

Hi everyone! I just wanted to show you my cheap diy arches, maybe as inspiration for your future projects. For these arches you need: 1.5m (~59") hulla hoop with 20mm (0.78") diameter (it is available sold per meter) in color white or milky 1m (39") lenght, 16mm (0.62") diameter...

    Jerky sequence and lag

Hi! I solved the issue. Ok, not really solved, but now the show runs "okay". 1. I changed WLED to ESpixelstick FW, this increased the performance a bit 2. Modified the router's openWRT firmware with this settings...

    Jerky sequence and lag

DDP does not support multicast. I think I have an issue with the channels and universes since the cleanup, because the show runs from xlights but has some offset in the pixels after FFP upload. I will investigate that, maybe this is also the reason that only the first DDP device is working.

    Jerky sequence and lag

Yes, maybe the other protocol would give the last piece of performance needed for the show. Too bad, that I don't have an FB account. Is there anywhere a manual for DDP usage? It is the least documented thing in lighting. I changed some controllers to DDP, but only the first one is working...

    Jerky sequence and lag

Thanks :) I've been a bit unclear :( With the data sending devices "connected directly to the router", I meant hard wired. I made some tests, then reflashed the controllers with ESpixelstick FW and tested again. These are the results: WLED: 7 Controllers: smooth show 8-11 Controllers: A bit...

    Candy cane pattern

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my pattern and xlights model for a 65cm (~25") candy cane. I used 6mm (~0,23") twin-wall sheets and spray painted them, so they also look nice during daytime. The drills for the pixels were made with an step drill. I think it came out nice and maybe someone can...

    Jerky sequence and lag

Thanks for the tips! Changing the distance between router and controllers did not change the issue, but it was the first easiest try. I designed the controllers with ESP-12F, 5A power supply, level shifting and signal filtering to avoid problems due to the electronics. Great idea with starting...

    Jerky sequence and lag

The WiFi signal has a decent strength. About -55dbm at the farthest spot. I use an dedicated Dlink Archer C6 router for the lightshow. The distance is only about 10m (33ft). While indoor testing, I only set up a few props (one time only trees with candy canes or only the arches) and there I...

    Jerky sequence and lag

Hello fellow friends of lights! After months of planning and building my first light show, I made the first test of all components installed in the garden. Sadly the show doesn't run smoothly, is jerky and has lags :( I use self-designed ESP8266 WLED based controllers for the props (with...
