    resistors and capacitors

Thanks, Keith! Just to be clear, I was talking about a capacitor on the power line not to eliminate noise, but to protect the strips from the initial power up. And you're saying that isn't necessary? Great to hear I shouldn't have to worry about dataline noise with the PixLite.

    resistors and capacitors

I come from the world of Arduino/Neopixels, where best practice is to always put a 1000 µF capacitor across the power contacts and a 300 to 500 Ohm resistor between the Arduino data output pin and the input to the first NeoPixel. But now I am using a fancy Advatek Pixlite MKII with some...

    another 5v vs 12v question

Thanks for the responses @AAH -- I will definitely do my due diligence and test voltage drop. I understand that they are using marketing speak when they say there is none. I'm hoping that I can get 180 pixels (3m) of strip without visually noticeable voltage drop. @SAALTFAM - My lights will...

    another 5v vs 12v question

5V LED strip has always been my default for some reason, but I have a big build coming up with very long strips (40 strips, 200 pixels each), and it seems that using 12V with my PixLite MKII Long Range Controller (with Long Range Isolated Receivers) would solve SO many problems. If I use 5V, I...

Which gauge wire should i be using?

This thread is extremely helpful but I'd like to kindly ask for a bit of hand-holding because I've never done this calculation before. Let's say I have a 2.5m strip of of 60/m SK9822 LEDs (so 150 LEDs, aprox 9A max draw altogether) My controller is Advatak MKII Long Range, but I don't think...

PixLite 16 MKII settings not saving

This is embarrassing, but I had tried to power the board via Aux Out instead of Power In. Once I fixed that the settings seem to be saving. Incidentally, I got the idea to inspect my power from other people on the forum who had settings problems related to a faulty power supply. I guess I'm...

PixLite 16 MKII settings not saving

Has anyone had this problem? PS: This is all settings - including Advanced strip settings.

powering more then 7.5A of pixels

Thanks again, @scamper. Your explanation is better than the Power Injection wiki page. I'm still a little worried about blowing the 7.5A fuse because it seems like I will be creating a circuit with more than 7.5A of draw... I'm fairly sure I'm misunderstanding something. EDIT: I found a Power...

powering more then 7.5A of pixels

@OzAz -- Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know to research it myself. @scamper -- re: "do I need to cut the power where I inject?" ... " if using the same supply, no" I am very curious about this - especially the "same supply" bit. Since each output can drive 1020 pixels @60mA...

powering more then 7.5A of pixels

I just ordered my first PixLite 16 Long Range MkII (and some Isolated receivers), but one thing that confuses me is the 7.5A fuse vs 1020 max LEDs per output. If we use the 60mA full-white value, that suggests that you can only power 125 pixels from the onboard power. First, I understand 60mA is...
