New cable suggestion for DMX with power.

I'm discussing with Ray about making a waterproof cable that uses the 15mm connectors with Devicenet twisted pair cable instead of non-twisted pair. This would only be for DMX or 3 wire pixels. If used for 4 wire pixels you would have a huge amount of cross-talk between the clock and data lines...

    pigtail orientation?

I pressed Ray every couple of week about getting caps made and he pushed the manufacture until we finally got them. The 13.5mm caps came first and the 15mm caps were just releases a few weeks ago. The cap ONLY fits the female connector which should alway be on the source side, think about you...

Waterproof Pigtail Pinout andd Wiring Colors

Re: Waterproof Pigtail Pinout and Wiring Colors Jim at Sandevices put the 4 pin version together for the 15mm connectors and the Ray has adopted it. It's also used for DMX with the data pin being the DMX+ and the Clock being the DMX-. David at HolidayCoro uses the same color code for his 4...

600mm (23.5") square clear tubes with end caps

Ok, I have obviously missed something. What are these tubes used on? Tanks

    2801 and reflection

I'd say that this only comes into play for long lines. It may be a good idea to add them if the distance from the controller to the string is long or when you have a large gap between two sections of a string. This is easily tested with a scope.

LightFactory Personal - Comments and Questions

Agreed, Although I understand the concept I'm still having an a bit of a issue wrapping my head around it. I'm also still having an issue with the audio timeline getting messed up that I need to work with Martin on but I want to make sure it's not a Parallels problem since that's how I run...

AusChristmasLighting 101 manual - Feedback for first/second edition

Thats true you need to be careful with both but if you keep your DC voltages below 50V you normally don't have to worry about getting electrocuted. This is why I'm planing to not have any AC voltages out in the general display area. One note however, even though DC voltages are fairly safe from...

    Feedback for display introduction sequence

Would someone refresh my memory in which Pixar movie did that sequence come from. Thanks John

    Sequenced Mains Switch (DMX Controlled)

Looks good but I do have a few comments. If you've already though about any of these then just ignore. Since most of the sequencing programs will turn off everything at the end of a song wouldn't that turn off the power? Maybe you'd should require a sequence of values sent so that a simple...

Fasteddys RGB Coro Canes - Basic Instructions

Are there any E1.31 pixel gateways that can skip pixels?

Yea, I thought the same thing about the ultimate tree, 760 pixels for a 20+ foot tree is not very ultimate although it does look good. It looks like software is the way to go. Sean should be able to program it with Nutcracker. I would like to build a 10' tree, not including the trunk, this...

Are there any E1.31 pixel gateways that can skip pixels?

I'd like to make a special matrix that is not rectangular and because of that I'd like to be able to skip pixels but keep the addresses so programming is easier. Here is an example. take a 5 X 12 folded matrix which would normally take 60 pixels. I want to only us 34 because there is no grid...

    Light Factory

Ive done a little playing around with LF and did find how to play music and video. The questions I have are: Is there a way to see a timeline with the music and possibly the music waveform? What are the supported video formats? Thanks John

    Light Factory

Martin, I'm just a newbe at this and this year I hope to do my first show. Already the pixel counts high as to be daunting so a good set of tools is a must. The one thing I will say is that guys on this forum, and also the one on several of the other ones, are great at supporting new users. If...
