I’m considering adding flood lights to my show for next year. Possibly lighting up roof and sidewalk or lawn. I’m looking for any advice from the community.

10 watt, vs 20 watt, vs 30 watts. Recommendations?

How many per controller port?

Sequencing suggestions.

Thanks!

i use 10 W floods, they light up a decent area prob 3-4m max for good coverage, the wattage depends on the area they will cover.
at full power its approx 1 AMP for a 10W flood 12V
most controllers allow 5-7.5 amp per output so the ports used will depend on you ( essentially you could have 7 off 1 port), but may run into power injection requirements due to voltage drop )
i run 2 floods 10W of 1 port at 6m of cable and have no issues, with 2m between each light so over 8m of cable i can run 2 10W floods and have no issues

sequencing is a per user question - everyone sets them up diffirently in xlights and everyone uses them diffirently
mine are just to light up a wall so its not dark
after the songs stop, its to light up the area so people walking around have a bit of extra light and that side wall isnt just pure darkness

It really depends on how big of an area you're trying to light up. I bought a bunch of 10w and 20w. I sold off most of the 10w, didn't work well for me as wall washers. I use 9 of the 20w-24v to wash the side of my house. They are spaced about 6 feet apart, mounted to fence that's 10-15 feet from the house. They do a great job covering the side of the house which is close to 30 feet if I had to guess. I use one port on Falcon for them and power inject (Falcon not rated for 24v). Will post a video so you can see in action.

was always told by my farther buy a little bigger than you need this way you wont stress/overload it and time it'll last longer for this reason
for the small price difference (if looking around) i went with 30W because i can always turn them down
