1st time I ever did 11 4 strand cables without stuffing up any heatshrink, wire colours or backshells. So proud! Will party tonight. Now all I have to do is master soldering of connectors to strip. Hopefully the 60/40 solder I purchased today will turn me into a master tradesman. Fingers crossed.

A tradesman will always blame his tools but in this case you can have a pass. You will notice the difference in Soldering with your new Solder.

1st time I've used 60/40 solder and I'm a big fan. It seems to melt at lower temp, sticks to stuff and is much easier to work with than whatever is in bunnings solder. I put a pigtail on strip without the end cap. In the past (yesterday) I wouldn't have had the confidence to remove it and do it again for fear of damage. Would have just put silastic over the lot. Today, 10 seconds later pigtail off, end cap on and pigtail back on, no worries.

Thanks to all for putting up with my ineptness over the last couple of days without laughing (well out loud anyway) and their tips for improving my soldering skills. I'm starting to feel like I'm improving now. Certainly getting lots of practice anyway.
