240v led string wiring

I have an led string with a multi function controller which supplies 240v dc to the string. There are three wires coming out of the MFC and then five between most of the LEDs The string has three section of around 130 LEDs in each section. Each section starts with two LEDs without a resistor and then six with resistors (can't get my head round that !!). Can I modify each section of this string to work with a lower voltage ?
Thanks.

You'd have to do a massive amount of chopping and resistor replacing to make anything usable with a regular low voltage DC controller. Just not worth the effort.

The reason that there are some LEDs with resistors and some without resistors is that the sections are in series. The resistors lower the current through the entire section which includes the LEDs which don't have a resistor immediately next to them.
