OK I have found a work-around for 27Channel controller and the Strobes.

It would appear the current through the ACL Stobe will not activate the MOSFET correctly when the 0V of the strobe is connected to it. I have 12V powering the board.

This sounds very odd, but without seeing a picture of how you hooked it up it's hard to diagnose.

Here is the setup.
Note the PDF buried among the photos....

I haven't received mine as of yet but plan on using a Ray WU DMX 27 channel controller to run them as well.
Looking at your diagrams from the PDF and the Example 3 in the wiki isn't the only thing missing from your 1st diagram tying the 0V from the channel output to the 0V for incoming DC? Maybe Alan can chime in on this.....
Just to clarify, Your example 3 works as it should with no issues? That is how I plan on running mine with a separate 5V supply. When you sequence them, do you just call for the color of the output used at 100% intensity? Would accidentally setting a color mix, like a purple only result in a dimmer strobe or would it cause any damage?
Thanks.

Strobes would be set up as single channel, not RGB so there is no colour property, only level.

You should only set the strobe channels to 0% or 100%.

I'd say no damage will occur if dimmed, but the result will be erratic.

I have created a new topic for the strobes at https://auschristmaslighting.com/threads/acl-mk2-strobes.6458/ so that the info is in the strobe section of the forums rather than the bulk buy.

@ nzlongfellow . I'm still trying to puzzle out how you are connecting things. In the photos you have the buck converter hooked up to the output of the dimmer. This won't work and is probably likely to destroy either the 27ch boards mosfets and/or the buck converter. The type of load that the buck converter presents to the dimmer isn't what it is designed for. The buck converters power needs to be hooked up to the 27ch boards 12V or 24V supply and the 5V output supplies the positive power for the strobes. If the buck converter has an isolated output then the output 0V line needs to be connected to the 0V of the 27ch board which is also the 0V supply for the buck converter.

Can you post a photo of the front (and back if there are any details on it) of the buck converter and/or a link to it so I can see exactly what each wire does.
