Anyone use the INK1003 Pixels this year? How did it go? VS WS2812B?

Was interested in whether anyone use the INK1003 Pixels this year? How did it go?

Looking at WS2112B or INK1003 for next year. Any thoughts?

I used both 5v WS2812B & 12v INK1003 (with the 5v converters built in).

Both were fine, although the INK1003 being 12v was easier to run power to!

What is best depends on what you are trying to do. INK1003 can only easily be cut every 50 centimeters else you end up either wasting pixels or having to feed in 5v as well.

I'm considering using WS2812B for my matrix this year, simply because ink1003 doesn't sit 100% flat due to the voltage convertors on the back and the ink1003 is slightly wider.

However I'm also looking at replacing my WS2812B on the gutters with INK1003 because power is easier.

A couple things to note with INK1003 strip, 30led/m is cutable every 1m, 60led/m is every 50cm in the 12v version.
If you are using the 5v version it is cutable every LED.
I talked to Ray early last week & he said he can make a 24v version for 50c extra per meter.
Personally I found the INK strip very good, with great colour.

Their is a regulator every metre on the 30/mtr strip, but you can cut it to any length. Only limitation is that you need to have a regulator for every metre of strip in the final length. This could mean you waste some.

Wasted ones could be used by hooking up 5V track only.

This is important as several people thought you would not be able to use this strip for window outlining.

If you cut the strip and connect all 4 tracks to the next piece (short distance only), it is equivalent to having no cut at all.

The reality is that for outlines and gutters then you really only need to get the 12vdc 2811 which is 3 LEDS per pixel. You need to ask yourself what the benefits of using 5vdc and individual pixels for this are and in most cases there is none because no one will ever notice the difference and its easier to manage channel wise.
With a matrix then individual pixels are best using the 2812b because the 5vdc current requirements and voltage drop can be managed easily with a matrix

I'm probably going to embarrass myself, but I'm missing your point here - aren't all pixels 3 LEDs? One R, one G, one B?

I think you are confusing the internal LED colours with individual RGB LEDs

The 2811 strip has 3 LEDs connected in series so it runs on 12vdc and can be cut approx. every 4 inches. This uses a 2811 chip that is external to the LED

The 2812b strip has the chip built inside the LED and is 5vdc as every LED has a chip

I have some 60 pixel per meter 5v and some 30 pixel per meter 12v I have yet to try.... This will be intense if I make a matrix from them....

I put some 2811's (20 pixel per meter) on my spiral trees and they are Bright... may need to residence them off season with less brightness
