I searched eBay for "excelvan projector" and found some 800 x 480 1500 Lumen ones for $26 delivered (in Oz). Probably fine for playing a Halloween in lower light conditions.

As for seamless players, I've bought a couple in the $30 - $40 range and they work quite well. I did a page on the min one on da-share.

yes I have 1 of those yet to test it , but would need a small 12v projector that auto starts on the correct input also I think, and a way of switching both on remotely

Something fishy is going on with the Excelvan ebay listings! Your link with the EHD11 model I see was $80 in December, but it now is $173!

Similarly, a different LED33+ Exelvan projector (540p, and lumens somewhere around 2600-3500) I paid $37 but it has now skyrocketed to $160. This projector is on its way to me at the moment. Specs-wise it looks better than the Bunnings Arlec one and cheaper (at the original price, at least!). Just need to think of a screen now (projecting onto the window from outside in a carefully disguised 'present') :)

So how did you like the operation and features @mellowcouple ?

The Arlec projector was still $99 when I phoned two local Bunnings stores after Christmas, so I've been looking at ebay alternatives instead. I bought an Excelvan LED33+ to try, which has 540p native resolution, USB playback (but no SD slot), plus HDMI/VGA/RCA input. It has a limited mechanical +/- 15 degree keystone, and no optical zoom. Here is a quick video of it:

This was bought for <$40 from: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LED-200...-Home-Cinema-Theater-AV-VGA-HDMI/142638891232
A black/grey trim model also exists, but out of stock at the moment: Listing ended ebay.com.au/itm/Excelvan-2600-Lumens-LED-HD-Projector-Cinema-Theater-PC-AV-VGA-HDMI-USB-input/
