Attaching Net Lights

Hi All. Probably a question thats been asked before, but how do you attach net lights to a tree trunk, such as a palm tree? Thought it might look ok to have 4 or 5 nets chase up and down my tree, but can't seem to get the nets to sit just right.

This may not help directly, but I've attached light strings to plastic garden mesh then attached that around the trunks of trees.

I was thinking of chicken wire , but the garden mesh would be better.. Keeps things neat and in sections for chasing..
