Bunnings Colored Coro 5mm

I was just building some props to test the white stuff out :)
Used the 3mm for the presents so the 9W floods could shine through. Only blue masking tape for the ribbon in the photos. Used the 5mm for some spinners, which I ran out of time to add the xlights model for, so not tested yet. Pretty sturdy so far.

I made some last year. What's your process when making props? Tracing stencils, cutting on a laser cutter or cnc?
I use a large format 180w co2 laser.
I do have a cnc but the coro at bunnings does not produce the cleanest cut so i just use the laser.

I started with a 20w optical power diode laser and that worked fairly well but certain colors it failed on, white and black were ok.

this shows the speed of cutting, its not super fast and the laser is only running at 30% of its power using a 2.5in focal lense.

Thats very nice. Yeah I have access to a laser at work, only 100w but even that turned down does a great job. Are you drawing your own designs or can find the files online somewhere? cheers

I have a mix of things all created in lightburn.
Some of them are completely custom while others are recreations of other props by using pictures and rebuilding them in lightburn.

There are a couple of files in the cnc directory of the xlights share folder you can play with.
The bulbs have the mouth layout you can take and put on other designs.

I made this a while ago to show how to use lightburn to make props.
It is basic and not all tools were used like "copy along path" could have been used to simplify some things.

In this one i show how to use the trace image tool, this can be useful for taking pictures of props and things from websites and recreating them for educational purposes of course.
