Well up here in the states we have a thanksgiving day usually celebrated with a turkey, I know down below you all don't have a turkey day but I think you have a special Jan day of sorts. Anyway I have been told that if I don't get this working I will be the turkey on the table since our light it up day is this coming Friday the day after our thanksgiving.

LOR \\.\COM13 9600 80 LOR REG OR UNIV 1 CHANNELS 1 TO 80
LOR \\.\COM14 9600 2826 LOR AUX A CHANNELS 81 TO 2906
LOR \\.\COM15 9600 2826 LOR AUX B CHANNELS 2907 TO 5732
E131 MULTICAST 2 510 LOR AUX C OR UNIV 4 CHANNELS 5733 TO 6242
E131 MULTICAST 3 510 LOR AUX D OR UNIV 5 CHANNELS 6243 TO 6752
E131 MULTICAST 4 510 LOR AUX E OR UNIV 6 CHANNELS 6753 TO 7262
E131 MULTICAST 5 510 LOR AUX F OR UNIV 7 CHANNELS 7263 TO 7772
E131 MULTICAST 6 510 LOR AUX G OR UNIV 8 CHANNELS 7773 TO 8282
E131 MULTICAST 7 510 LOR AUX H OR UNIV 9 CHANNELS 8283 TO 8792
E131 MULTICAST 8 510 LOR AUX I OR UNIV 10 CHANNELS 8793 TO 9302
E131 MULTICAST 9 510 LOR AUX J OR UNIV 11 CHANNELS 9303 TO 9812
E131 MULTICAST 10 510 LOR AUX K OR UNIV 12 CHANNELS 9813 TO 10322
E131 MULTICAST 11 510 LOR AUX L OR UNIV 13 CHANNELS 10323 TO 10832
E131 MULTICAST 12 510 LOR AUX M OR UNIV 14 CHANNELS 10833 TO 11342
E131 MULTICAST 13 510 LOR AUX N OR UNIV 15 CHANNELS 11343 TO 11852
E131 MULTICAST 14 480 LOR AUX O OR UNIV 16 CHANNELS 11853 TO 12332

When I convert I am getting a ton of map to the same channel associated with com 14 and 15. I am using LOR CR150D on those 2 com ports to operate Brian's 12 ccr's tree. The sequence works perfect in LOR. But LOR scheduler will not handle these large files. When I try and play what I have converted just to see. It appears that nothing is coming out of any ports. The control boards "leds" are not indicating communication with the main computer. Curious why the com ports are named \\.\COM13 and not just .\COM13

I just love this software. I am just not smart enough to make it work. You all are the smart one's, how about lending me some of your knowledge so I am not feed to the family on our Turkey day

Brad, i have cross posted this to falconchristmas. Both Matt Brown and Frankr are on that forum alot. They both use LOR alot so probably can answer this.

All the current developers of xlights are on falconchristmas as we are using the raspberry pi as our show computers this year and spend lots of time there.

here is cross post
http://falconchristmas.com/forum/index.php/topic,481.msg3383.html#msg3383

I will update this thread if someone answers over there

Hi Brad,

Can you post some of the errors that you are seeing about remapping as well as posting your LOR files as well? You are converting from LOR to xLights correct?

So rather than sending the LMS file all I really need is a channel export so that I can see why you have the overlapping channel information. This is likely a case of having some channels missconfigured or possibly an issue with the mapping into your xlights network layout.

Hi Frank,

Here is the file. My CCR Tree is the Design that Brian Bruderer did. Thats my only experience with ccr's and his used 3 led's per pixel maybe that is true with all, I don't know. But it looks like some how I have something defined wrong when I chose dmx or dmx open or lor for those channels in the NC convert tab. But I tried all of them.
Thanks for taking the time

Hi Frank,

I just watched Sean Tutorial on he just posted on mapping and converting and I think I missed the boat. In the back of my brain I was wondering how could xlights convert this file over to a much small file and be able to have it look like LOR's output. I am very interested in your take of what I have sent you. I have 2 things going on here. the present problem and what to do in the future.

LOR is fixing to release a beta that deals with memory, I think today, that should address allot of file sizes, and copy and paste freezes. I also ran a 4ga patch into the lor show exe file. I think the fixes I put in lor should get be by right now.

The future it seems to me is to have a way to use the quick and easy features of NC and the very specific design features of lor and especially super star together.

File sizes are going to be the problem when running in windows. I have 13 universes in my mega tree and can easily see another 20 universes if I convert over what i have to all rgb bulbs. I can tell you that waiting until July to start the conversion will not work, I will have to be working on this in Jan.

Thanks Brad

Hi Brad,

The problem you are seeing is that xLights conversion does not take LOR controllers with greater than 16 channels into consideration. The problem is we have no way of knowing what physical channel to store the data in other than to have a standard assumption that each unit is 16 channels. That way unit 2 ch 1 is always physically ch 17 internally.

This leads to the collisions you see when converting.

going forward I would run everything in DMX and not use unit numbers. Always use the unique channel number on a given universe.

I am running 72 universes this year, not all channel are populated though, and I am only using LOR where I have to and then filling in the rest with nutcracker. At the moment there is no other way that is even remotely viable.

If you need to use xLights this year is there anyway you can do the channel numbering in Aux-A and Aux-B without using unit IDs?

Also note that you can use the same channel number in separate universes. I would recommend moving to a model like that for the future. I maintain a spreadsheet that maps logical channel (1-34k) to the underlying universe/channel for every display element. This helps me track the display and any changes I am making.

I was thinking about using the xlights scheduler this year also. Here is my problem.

4 lor 16 channel controllers and 6 sandevice boards for a total of 46 universes.

When I add in the 4 lor controllers it thinks they are universe 1.

When I add in my controllers i have a universe 1.

So when i do the conversion i get an error that Unit01.1 and RGB 1 P01 R map to the same channel.

Other than those 64 channels, the conversion seems to go OK.

Hi Doug,

What universe/netowrk do you have set in LOR for RGB 1 P01?

You can do an export of your channel config and post that as a zip. It looks like you have the network value set to regular for LOR and the first set of RGB devices.
