For some reason my Xlights keeps becoming unresponsive when I hit the Test option and then just goes into a loop and I need to kill the application. I have updated to the latest version and same problem. I dont have any other ideas other than I'm thinking of deleting Xlights but am concerned that it will delete my setup files and sequences which I don't want to do. I will then reinstall xlights. If I delete and reinstall, will I lose everything?

Your real data is in the show folder (xlights_networks.xml, xlights_rgbeffects.xml, various .xsq, .xsqz, .zip, images, media, and so on). Deleting the program files would not affect that at all, but you can back it up to be sure.

Try repairing or updating the VC++ redistributable packages. It's possible some of those were corrupted and reinstalling xLights will not fix those. It only looks to see if it is there and if not install them.

had a similar problem not so long ago and this was my only fix after thinking uninstalling and reinstalling would fix it

Is this in a directory on my Pc or something I need to download?

Correction the problem was not fixed. I repaired the files as suggested and then went back into Xlights and started working on a sequence and assumed everything was fixed, but I forgot to use the test function. I needed to test something tonight but still getting the same problem. I’m not sure if this is a problem with Xlights or my setup but the system hangs again every time I try to test through Xlights. The web interface for the controller allows for testing, so I will just use that for the time being.

how do I go about reporting this to Xlights and see if it’s an Xlights problem? What files/logs should I supply?

What version of xlights are you using? The best way to check is to use an older version to see if it works in that. Maybe go back to xlight 2025.7 and est. You should be able to download all the older versions from xlights.org.

Using the latest version that downloaded today. I will try and use an older version and send what happens.
