Hi All,
i am running a enttec usb pro dongle connected to my usb port to run vixen software, i am having a lot of problems with the laptop recognising the com port, sometimes it does then next time doesnt, anyway my question to you guys for some help is,
would it be ok for me to connect the enttec to a RJ45 to usb connector, ie; plug the RJ45 into the laptop and then connect the enttec to the usb that is on the opposite end of the RJ45
any advice appreciated.

Ethernet and USB connections are not even remotely compatible at the signal level. What are you trying to achieve?

Dave, the Enttec unit is a USB to DMX interface. It's not possible to change that.

You just need to find out why it is intermittent. Maybe the USB lead is dodgy?

Make sure the Enttec dongle is plugged in at least 10 seconds before you start the software.

I was having the same issue with an LOR dongle.
The problem was with the laptop not the dongle.
Once I got the laptop comm port issue fixed the dongle worked fine.

A USB port is simply a portal for information going in or out of the computer.
An RJ45 port is the same thing, a portal of a different type.
They do it differently and therefore are not interchangeable.
