Enttec OpenDMX

I have three ADJ Entour Snow machines (SM) that I was forced to trip manually this season. I am attempting to get an Enttec OpenDMX to trigger the snow.

The SM uses 5 Channels with channel 3 being on-off at values 128-255 for on and 0-127 for off as per the ADJ Manual. I set the DMX address to 10 (on the SM) which matches the unit ID in xLights. I assigned 5 channels to each SM (See Attached)

The Enttec I have a 5 to 3 Pin Adapter then a 3 Pin and into the SM and usb into my mac mini from Enttec which xLights seams to recognize the port and communication indicator is green. Protocol is set to OpenDMX

I assigned...

Snow 1: Channels 1-5
Snow 2: Channels 6-10
Snow 3: Channels 11-15

I set up a simple sequence to turn on the SM and no dice.

Running xLights for Mac 2023.23 on macOS 10.15.7 (Running Old macOS hoping to retain the xSchedule app as long as possible)

Any Help would be great

It looks to me like you mixed up channels and universes. The snow machine is looking for a starting channel...not a universe/ID. Try setting the machine to 1 and change the speed in xlights to 250000. DMX uses a fixed speed for most uses.

Thank You!

I did try this and no dice.

I set the SM to 1 and Speed to 250000, as you suggested, rendered, connected and same result. Did not run.

I also changed the prop port from 10 to 1 and it did not run. The device ID is 10 and Enttec has only one output.

One more thought, the adapters that I am using are from LOR. I have a 5 pin M to 3 pin F standard adapter and then a LOR 3 pin M to RJ45 with a RJ45 Coupler then a LOR RJ45 to 3 pin F into the SM. I have not checked the continuity end to end. I did read that LOR has their DMX wired differently. Could that be the issue? I will check the wire end to end.

LMK your thoughts and thanks again.

I checked the LOR Adapters and found that the LOR adapters are 3 pin XLR and pins 2 and 3 are reversed. Not sure thats the issue but I ordered a 5 pin cable to eliminate the variable and it will arrive tomorrow for testing.

Mike

I got a new 5 PIN DMX cable directly from the Enttec to the SM and using your suggested settings. Still not working.

Any Ideas?

Someone with more DMX experience on a Mac should chime in.

My guess is configuration. I would delete the controller and models and start over with a bare configuration. Don't overthink it. Just a simple OpenDMX controller with the proper USB port selected. In the model, just associate the controls in the right order for how you have the machine configured.

Never got this to work. I am now just trying it with a simple RGB Flood. The Enttec communicates fine using a software console but with a clean instance of xLights I can't seam to get it communicate.

Any Help would be appreciated
