Igloo for snow machine

So I wanted to disguise the snow machine this year and decided to make an elongated igloo for it. It comes complete with sound proofing batt insulation.
And then I tested it with a decibel monitor on my iPhone and comparing the recording with snow machine sitting exposed vs inside the igloo the noise dropped a whole..... 3 decibels [emoji18].
Oh well, at least this year it'll look like an igloo ...... with a jet engine inside. [emoji16]

neat ... does it cut the sound of the motor?

Not really. I did test the decibels from the front where most of the noise comes from. Maybe it will be quieter from behind or at the very least, dampen the sound a little from hearing it on the roof from inside the house. Unfortunately most of the noise is generated from the very front where the air blasts out so you can't really dampen the sound without reducing the airflow which if done would probably result in an igloo full of snow rather than snowing into the air.

I've never used a snow machine before (I use smoke machines when DJing) and these get hot. Do the snow machines get hot? Just be careful with insulation around it as you could potentially be creating an oven/fire hazard.

I wouldn't think it would get hot as it is just a water pump (or capillary action in some) and an air blower.
a smoke generator uses a heating element and fan, hence the heat.

Very neat. Looks like the cat was eying the igloo off as a possible home. :)

3db is still half as loud to the human ear, so it has helped a bit. The issue is that the noise is very directional, mostly at the front of my machine
