Decided to make an infinity mirror.
1m x 0.3m cost around $100 for the mirrored glass. $8 for the second hand mirror.
Just need a simple controller to run it. Suggestions anyone?

My shows are all indoors. It will go on the lounge wall for now running off a Pixlite 4 but need to get a transformer rather than a power supply due to the fan noise.

You beat me to it! :p

I have been toying with this idea and gathered all the parts, then got distracted.

Looks really good, hopefully inspires me to finish.

Cheers,
Rowan

could the arduino e1.31 pixel controller doing 1 universe for $10 be the solution for a cheap controller

Have not got into arduino controllers so have to start learning. Just ordered some dumb RGB with remote controller so will install one when It arrives.

Capt Murdoch is working to add ability to drive 2811 lights directly from the pi's I/o pins. It already can drive 2801 lights from a pin. It may be outside your price target . It would be more like $40.

Simple construction.
  1. Old mirror from Op shop to the size you want.
  2. One way mirrored glass cut by glazier or ordinary glass with mirrored tint fitted (from sign shop or glazier.)
  3. Remove original mirror and install new see-thru mirror in its place.
  4. Using a router, bench saw or what ever fashion a spacer frame the same size as the original so that it
    • a) Holds the new mirrored glass in place and
    • b) has a recess for the original mirror to be set-back the thickness of your lighting strip.
  5. Cut a groove for the wires
  6. Silicon the lights in place.
  7. CLEAN both faces of the mirrors and remove ALL dust, streaks, smudges etc.
  8. Fit the original mirror and turn it on.

I will add a few pics when i get home from work. Cheers
