I have a nice hedge / row of trees that I plan to fill with LED lights.

In the past with standard off-the-shelf LED light packs, I would expect to least put 300 x (tiny) LEDs on each tree (if not more now they have grown :D)

Now comparing this to Ray's 12mm dumb RGB LED's - which on paper has a much higher power draw - how do you think this would compare to the usual LED fairy lights in terms of brightness? Would i be safe in thinking I could get away with half the number of larger/brighter RGB LED's in that case?

I reakon you would be able to get away with less. In my display i have a spiral tree that is made up of only 200 pixels, the first year i actually only ran it with 1 spiral and 100 pixels and it still looked great. The LEDs are larger and much brighter than the traditional LEDs
