Final week of October check-in, how is everyone's progress?
I have completed a control box build, painted some coro, pushed pixels into said coro, and started putting up some of the lights outside (starting with the more discreet elements). I meant to grab some photos of the painted coro props but forgot before it got dark. I'll try to post a picture or two one evening next week.
My new props consist of a reindeer, three 2D presents, and a couple of star poles. With 350 bullet pixels boy is the reindeer heavy!

checkin for last week of october - pushed pixels into inkcreations props, bit hard as the material is more solid, so very sore hands, even with pliers, - had to wrap the handles of the pliers in strapping tape to help as the handles are soo tiny
down to my last 1000 pixels to push into other props
got all my controllers out of storage and have updated all to new 10.3 - they perform so much better now
and the new features showed me one prop was causing an entire controller to act slow and drop frames, - so split that prop to 2 ports per prop and now the controller indicates it can now keep up with the sequence speed and all other controllers ( such a cool feature letting you know a contoller is not able to keep up )
now to finish building my 180 degree poles, using 8 inch seed pixel toppers and 3m tall poles
so looking good for start next week to start installs ready for December 1st
also 3d printing some mounts for props standard coro prop to 25mm hole for poles
but need to find one mount that is 4 holes around a single pixel - for a star
other than that looks like im actually on course for once (touch wood)

Here's the reindeer and two of the three presents (not final location). I decided to leave the antlers white to make them stand out against a dark brown fence at night. For this same reason I also opted for a lighter brown/orange for the fur.
Hopefully the paint holds up in the weather but I did finish it with Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Clear. Undecided if I'll leave the bolt heads black or stick of a bit of paint on them too.

that actually looks cute
im glad im not the only on thats finding coloured props are nicer for during the day, did you paint that one yourself ?
(better that plain white or black - but i cheat now and get impression props )

@Juddge : Yes I did paint it myself. Used normal acrylic paint with a brush though, only the top coat was sprayed on.
I have some printed gingerbread people and star poles from Ink Creations, plus Boscoyo Mini Trees on green coro so thought a white reindeer would look odd. Particularly for the first part of the show where it is still twilight until as late as 9pm (daylight savings).

yeah thats why i like the impression props, as its not really dark till 9pm in sydney
Well, I finally got off my butt and started getting some things done this weekend!
Last year I built two of these matrix boards to go on my solar panels, but never got around to finishing the remaining four. So that's what I started tackling on Saturday.
All the seeds have now been strung, and power has been wired up on two of the four boards.
Still to do: Connect the data between the strands.
Now for the engineering masterpiece...
After carefully building, assembling and GLUING the whole lot together, I discovered I'd installed every single strand backwards. Turns out the whole Data In vs Data Out thing is actually quite important. Who knew? Apparently not me.
At least they are consistently bad across the panels.
So these four will start in the top-right corner, while the original two start in the top-left. Because apparently having everything consistent would have made life far too easy.
Hopefully I can work around it with some adjustments in xLights. Otherwise, they'll get flipped and you'll be looking at the backs of the seeds instead. A completely unintended feature, but a feature nonetheless!

This year I’m considering ripping out the controller of some landscaping lights and putting in my own, I am also considering broadcasting FM because my speaker broke and a transmitter is cheaper. I have been procrastinating for the last few months so I am not ready
i cannot recommend enough using FM transmitters and a QR code onsite to either Pulsemesh or Tune2 - (pulesmesh is my preferred) - FM for parents that dont want to get out of the cars with little kids, but for people walking by, the pulsemesh is the best, and it shows how many people have watched your show via the app
