Burnt a triac out in my LOR CMB26D controller due to a direct short in a brand new plug and socket from Ray Wu
(I am not blaming him) I now have a test procedure in place to prevent this happening again (I hope)

LOR controller has 2 x fuses on the board that appear to be for inlet power.

I am wanting to protect my controllers from this happening again by installing fuses on the out put side of the RGB channels.

Can I place a single low amperage fuse in the + connection point of each RGB channels to protect the output side of the controller, or is there more to it

Keep in mind that unless you have fast rectifier type fuses, you may not be actually protecting the triacs. Fuses are generally very slow compared to the triac. They will take a surge up to a certain point, but it is doubtful a regular glass fuse will keep them from blowing on a short... but they certainly won't hurt.
