I have bought some of Ray's waterproof pigtails and waterproof 3 and 4 'core' extension cables. On the outside of the cables it usually indicates something like 4X50 mm squared or 4 X 75 MM squared. I guess these numbers indicate the 'thickness' or gauge of the wires used in the cable?

In America we have AWG (American wire gauge.) The lower the number, the thicker the wire. How would I equate 75 MM squared to a number than I can understand? Generally, the black pigtails (15mm) appear to be a thicker cable as compared to the white 13.5mm pigtails.

Also, In the 2 core cable, is a thicker wire used?

Confused in Colorado. --Greg--

The 2 gauges are 0.5mm2 and 0.75mm2. As a rough guide these sized cables are good for 5A and 7.5A respectively.
