It sure will. Pretty much any switch will be suitable for e1.31.

A cheap 10/100mbps switch is all you need.

Do you mean "conventional DMX512" (RS485) or "DMX over IP" (E1.31 / Streaming ACN) ?

Only the latter type can be used with computer network switches.

That's a good point - the fact that rj45 connectors are used for many controllers, people starting out could easily get things confused.

You can buy intelligent pixel controllers with conventional DMX or E1.31 inputs. That's the one "problem" with the common use of RJ45 connectors and CAT5 cable these days. You can never quite tell what someone means unless they specify.
