New idea - Sign writing

This is a picture taken from our front door, the water tower is visable apon entering the town,
So i was thinking maybe a laser projector or something spelling out "merry christmas".
what does everyone else think of this idea?
Please add your suggestions an products you reckon would work..

biggest questions would be

what land is that tower on? crown land/ public access / private property.
would you be attempting to plaster this laser message from your house or closer to the object?
you would need to know aircraft flight lines. (lasers + aircraft = arrest)
is the side your looking at there the viewable side from the road?


Myself, I would be hesitant to attempt this cause of nasty council people who would always try to stop you.

If you're going to try to project from your house which looks to be a few hundred metres away i very much doubt that the laser would actually have the resolving power to be able to control the letters. You're looking at maybe needing 50 steps over a couple of degrees of arc. The actual ability to see the laser, which will by law be limited to a small one, is another factor.

land is private owned, no plaine's fly past.
the side you see is visable from the road.
council should be easy to get past. (anything to promote the township) were a tourest town
a mate focused his led mag light on the tower an got a decent dot size.. an bright

what about a hd lazer projector i know some can project upto 100 feet, i do bel;ieve there are some that can project even further, ive seen some video's of them in use on entire buildings

I concur with Alan about the deflection angle of the image text. Typical DJ lasers (that do text and animations) have a reasonable wide beam spread (60° at a guess). At the distance you're looking at you'd need only a few degrees.

i understand what you mean by the angle now, 2deg at house could be like 30deg out there.
