Most controllers will do both I think. I'm more familiar with E1.31 as I use it but DDP has significant benefits.

There are others here more familiar with the DDP protocol than I am

No. Basic tests all the colours are correct

I just realised (not trying to test in the daylight) where I think there may be a faulty pixel, the colours on the rainbow test always change at the suspected fault, this is not in sync with the rainbow test pattern.

DDP would be preferred over E1.31. It has less network overhead.
