Hi,

Got this idea from the falcon forum and whipped it up. These images are of 6 panels, US$11ea from Ray Wu (not waterproof), an octoscroller PCB (more on that in another post later) and a Beaglebone Black running Falcon Player.

Excuse the bad pictures.

Nothing better than seeing one in the flesh (sometimes - for those coming into a post late , and not having the nous , it is difficult to visualize/understand the capabilities) .. which is why the mini's are a great event !

The figures whilst from a real world situation are themselves questionable as we have no indication of wiring distances and voltage at the panel.
The figures have on average a 30% variance for expected values for 4 panels based on the figures for a single and even a 30% variance for all white on a single panel.
This is indicative of voltage drop on cabling or psu.

My personal reading for 8 panels all with was around 7A, inline with the multi panel reading on the wiki, I too need to fire the panel back up and take some voltage readings at the panel.

The other unknown is, are the pixels being driven harder during the scan period giving a higher peak current requirement than is being measured. Typically scanned displays will overdrive the leds to assist with brightness and persistence.

Based on some theory, maybe we should be allowing a peak current draw of 2A to 3A per panel for wiring and PSU power ratings.
This then means that PSU run well into safe operating areas and wiring is correctly sized to limit voltage drops.
One 350W supply per 16 to 20 panels

I note that those DC-DC convertors have some shockingly poor voltage regulation as the current goes up, I have 10A and 20A versions and whilst I use them all the time I try and limit them to around 50% current.

I understand that you made/make plastic brackets to hold the panels together ? Daryl showed his 9from you) at the mini....

So, I received my 9 P10 panels , and the BBB and completed the installation.




I have seen references to a wiki link on how to configure the panels , but I can't see where it is on the wiki, unless I am looking at the wrong place.


Still waiting on the pins for the octoscroller :(
