Painting Coro props.

Seems to be a thing that gets brought up from time to time, and recently I've had the urge to do my props to make them look a little bit prettier.

Came across this post from Mat Fallon on the 'Unofficial AusChristmasLighting' fb group, so most of this is thanks to him for letting us know what he's done

He was good enough to let us know which paint colours and products he used for these.

Rustoleum 2x
Flat Black, Gloss Deep Blue, Gloss Apple Red, Gloss Sun Yellow, Satin Ivory Silk, Metallic Aluminium

Dulux Duramax
Very Terracotta, Gloss Bright Delight, Post Boy, Sky Bus.

Also 'paint pens' come in very handy for the lines on the Bluey characters.

The good thing about these props is that you can be as dodgy as I am with painting them, and they still look pretty good. :)

Just got my EFL Teddy from Troy, so working on what colours to paint it. Should be a lot easier with just the brown and whatever colour I end up choosing for the ribbon/bow. :)

Please add what you've also painted in here, as trying to find anything on facebook is almost impossible !

Thanks for the paint pen idea! Grabbed one at Bunnings today and will see how that goes with my Santa Sleigh and Reindeer.
 
First time posting on the forum, but I do read a lot, and thank you to those that post with ideas, and tips on how to do stuff, it is really helpful. This is my first year of doing RGB pixels so a whole new software and concept in lighting to get my head around.

Happened upon this thread and thought I'd add my 20 cents worth.

Recently did some prop painting myself over the last couple of weeks. Used similar products to you guy's, various spray paint, gloss, satin etc. more of whatever I had on the shelf as much as anything else.

I am in Florida, it's hot here at the moment high 80's low 90's, although summer not a massive amount of humidity thankfully.

I painted them all outside on my drive and let the sun dry them, as the paint is so thin at least it dried quickly, I guess they all have at least three or four coats. I did notice that the paint came off of the present in a small area, so I put a couple of clear coats of laquor on the other props.

Don't yet have any props like the Teddy but if I get something similar, I will try the highlight pen, it looks pretty effective.

There are three small pumpkins, I only showed one though.

Thats My bad luck with the product, primer first, then rustolem- whitepaint, then rustolem - red ,
An this happens..
Same thing happened months ago as well
 
It was totaly clean..dry rag.
Same thing happened 2+months ago an bunnings blaimed the temp outside
so i made a nice warm spray painting booth in the back of the van.

been waiting for support from rust-oleum for over 1hr 30min now.
as they dont know why..
an bunnings dont know why..
