I will be there for a Perth mini.

Did I read that right? You sure about that T? :D

Suppose we better get cracking on this then
Venue suggestions would be appreciated people

Lets get the ball rolling on this

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

If we can lock in some dates I will make sure to clear my schedule for you Mike.

I will go one further and even offer to host it.

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

it great to see that the perth mini may make it off the ground. after going to the canberra meet and greet the other day, i feel that this was a really great format. just a couple of makes over for a bbq talking about a common interest, with no real formal itinerary

OK how does the 9th-10th of June sound to everyone?
Sounds good to me, but dependant on impending doom (arrival of 3rd child into the household), I may be a late withdrawal.

To start working out what we'll want to spend our time on, it might be good to get an idea from everyone what stage they are at, and what they currently use. For example:
How long have you been running your display?
LOR, LSP or Vixen?
Pixels?
Anything you would like to get into, but haven't made the jump?

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

OK I guess I will start (hope this is what you mean Kane)

3rd year running a display (this year) 100% LED
Using pixels, strip, standard LED's
Running LSP
display is slowly being converted to a mostly RGB display (if not all)
Matrix screen with a really good resolution is next. Oh and a pixel tree, and some huge arches and.................List is endless

I should put my info here too, I suppose. (and yes, Steve, we know you're going on a cruise. Show off!)

This year will be my 2nd year
Also 100% LED, using pixels and strip, plus standard LED (running off a couple LOR controllers, and the rest are DMX DC controllers)
Running LSP, but might check out Vixen this year, especially if LSP don't offer us a way of extending functionality via plugins/automation etc.
Planning on putting together a "fuzzy matrix" of 30 tinting tubes (1.6m high) across the front of my balcony - will be interesting to see if it looks any good!

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

I have been doing light for a couple years now, had last year off and it hurt.
I use all leds and have dabbled in pixels.
While I love pixels I dont think I will ever go totally that way, I like the look of led strings for some features.
I have not really locked down a plan this year but need to shortly.
The biggest frustration for me in this whole thing is the sequencing, especially on the pixel front.
It just takes to dahm long.

9 and 10th is fine. Do we need two days?
Did you want it at my house or find somewhere else?

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

Your house is kinda Central to most people I guess, apart from Kane (who lives in south Gero :) )
Unless someone can offer another suggestion???

Edit: not sure about needing 2 days myself. Im guessing probably not at this stage.

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

I'm Okay with the 9th 9:00am at Tabor's.

I can bring some small trees and big star made out of Bunnings / Big W bits and the "Test Window Tint Tube" for final destruction testing, it bee exposed to the elements for the past 3 months.

And Kane I can bring some pictures from our last cruise. ;-)

Hey Mike if we have it at Tabors then we can almost guarantee that he'll be there :)

Steve

Re: Perth Mini Interest 2012

Thats a good point Steve. Just hoping the roof dont fall on us :)

I can bring various bits and pieces. Control gear (P12R, DMX48's, DR4) , strip, other lights etc if needed

Alright it looks like the 9th June is settled then.
Any objections or any other input from members? Topics? Anything?

Please remember this will be the FIRST OFFICIAL ACL mini in Perth, we would like to see members new and old attend if possible.
PS: Everyone, Steve is going on a cruise (which means less $$$ for blinky's) So dont tease him and say hope the boat sinks , or he's a show off even though we all think it :p
