I have some of these http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/307297826-DMX-512-Module-decoder-DC12V-input-P-N-LN-DMXMODEL-3CH-12V-wholesalers.html which I purchased for some corro stuff I'll be doing this year.

I plan on daisy-chaining 3-4 of them together off my DC48's. I cracked one open (Although once I forced one open I realised there were two small screws under the sticker  ) and it would appear it has DMX out on the board which isn't wired up. My question is, can I solder some wires to it to save me having to splice into the existing DMX cable? I plan on taking the board out of the existing non-waterproof housing and putting them in a small junction box full of silicone.

Cheers gents.

The "DMX out" pads are not used on that model. They are for one that has an extra RS485 chip.

The good news is that you can just "T" the DMX signal wires and continue onto the next controller.

You will have to set the address on each unit first. (before you join them all together)
