Hi I am working on a project that requires a controller that can be programed to run a small sequence once trigged by a PIR all by itself
12 V
About 150 pixels in total
Able to set up a sequence to it
Any idea on what controller to use would be helpful

i would say fpp with a input-hat, wire the PIR to a input, an then just assign a sequence to play once triggered.

if you want to go that way. use gemini or claude, tell it what you want to do with the pir detector you want. an let it write the code for ya. fully custom an simple then. could even use a esp32

Its a halloween prop
Monster in a box where if you pass it the PIR will set off the box to shake and I would like to add lights to it that change color at the start and later as it shakes
I have a couple of Baldrick boards for my christmas display and have no problems with these but I want the box to be a stand alone with one supply and nothing else
I have no knowledge on the esp32 of what they can do or how to set them up or even where would be the best place to get one

If you want a cheaper option you can run ESP32 running espixelstick or WLED. Both options are compatible with xlights and fpp. You can also add a pir sensor via the gpio ports

i myself, i run a Raspberry pi, as i have heaps of 3+ sitting here doing nothing, and i use a hansonelectronics RPI-28D+ that has 4 outputs total, DMX out, Ethernet in and if the PI has it WIFI
and the outputs can be seperate voltages - the input to the Cape and the inputs to the outputs can be diffirent voltages

can have as an example 5V into cape & first 2 ports and 12V into other ports (etc) so you can run 2 diffirent voltages from the one cape
they are my goto for small spots that need a seperate controller, that doesnt need more than 4 ports and i run one on my wings with a 12v battery to run my wings at charity events , and i also have a DC charger setup so i can connect to power if it is avaiable and charge the battery / run the controller from mains
i get FPP control, timeclock, and 4 outputs, so if 2 PI's can fit in the space you can fit the Cape and PI easy.

Thank you for all of your ideas, I have decided to go with the F Prop to run the pixels to light up in the box and add a timer to run the whiper motor that both are trigged by a PIR plus added sound to the monster in the box which is run off the F Prop as well
