For those interested in DIY spiral trees, found these today at Bunnings for $21. They are on promo in the gardening section.

Yeah, they only stock them sporadically. Anyone that wants them for a future project would be advised to get them when they see them.

Yep, I bought some about 3 or 4 years ago, and I had to go to 3 different Bunnings stores to get enough. (I paid like $15 though)

used them for couple years. Next step to replace the lights with bullet type as I don't get the full 360 view. Easy to stack on top of each other for storage

These look almost exactly the same as mine. except I just put connecters on each one so I remove the wires for easier stacking :D

*Backs out to get them down from the storage..

What layout would this be on xlights if the bullets were individually controlled? xLights trees are layered, unless there's an option I'm missing somewhere (I'm sure I am).

there is a spiral tree model in xlights.

you just do a 1 string tree and set it to spiral around however many times you need.

If anyone is interested, Bunnings have these at the moment (click & collect for most of us I assume.) My first year so only getting 2, but I want them all!!! xD

I recon you could squeeze 6 more pixels in to make it an even 150 :D
Oh come on you know all that famous advice we are supposed to follow, Measure Twice, Cut Once, Read the manual first, Design it before making it. Nope Bull at a gate 😂😂😂

Speaking of measure, I taped some regular old electrical wire around the spiral and then ran that over a tape measure a few times, got around 2950mm, sound close?

I'm definitely more of a measure twice cut once, realize I screwed up and spend 3 weeks frantically waiting for new stock to arrive kinda guy
