im a firm believer that painted / printed impression style looks better during the afternoon before it gets dark, doesnt matter once the sun goes down
due to daylights savings in nsw, its not dark till about 8-830pm, so the decorated ones look better for the kids before that time
i wish they all came with the option of printed designs, i will be looking to paint my plain white ones to look good during the day this year to match the ones i have got in impressions style

Nothing can make my display look good during the day.. all that matters is when its dark and the lights go on. Waste of time, effort and money for me painting coro

I lean more towards painted / printed coro props. If you need to look at them all the time I think they look nicer with color and designs when it makes sense. I have either painted/ printed props or just plain props. It's mostly a personal preference on how you want things to look.

I vote paint! I wish I'd have thought about the caps for the pixels tho hahah! Will def do that for touch ups.

We paint them all, the candy canes, mini trees etc. I do like the printed ones from inkcreations where you don't need to worry - plus on the reverse is the wiring instructions.

Our painted:

Do you see the eyes at night? The two with the eyes up look odd at night? Or would you suggest keeping them below the lid?

BTW - great job on painting them. Love that traditional bulb look. Do you usually stick with same color for body lights or can they still be mixed up?

TBH I think it depends if might depend if there's external light sources, like street lights are close. Even then, I'd say the pixels will prob over power any colors anyway.

We mainly paint ours so there's not the big white coro blobs during the day.

We certainly didn't notice if you can see if the eyes this year or anything painted really:
