I have a small 12V 1 amp supply that I was going to use for just the P12R boards. In my project, I am going to be using 3 P12R's and need to power them. The power for the strips will be coming from another box but want to but the P12R's and their cooresponding power supply in a seperate box.

What current do the P12R's need for just the boards? --Greg--

I would be extremely surprised if its anywhere near 1 amp, but I dont know for sure, so Ed from J1SYS would be the best person to answer that question

Ed, are you monitoring? I don't see any specs for current draw on your web site. --Greg--

I don't know the exact figure either, but it will vary (inversely) with the supply voltage. ie The current draw will be higher when fed 5V (regulator bypassed), less when fed with 12V and even less when fed from 24V. The lower current is due to the switch-mode operation of the regulator. The overall power consumed (Watts = Volts x Amps) however will be similar at all voltages.
