What element(s) are you building or installing this week? - 2022

Fanfare for the common man, by Emmerson Lake and Palmer..... haven't heard that in decades. :)

I was looking forward to see the thermal camera readings though.
I'm disappointed that the concrete didn't show much thermal activity when curing.
This post-hole mix stated to put some soil on top after 20min which did cut the chances of seeing it heat up.

How goes your setup and is everything progressing how you want it to? Another weekend is over and it is already the second half of November 😬

As for here, the setup continues... (although the rain is certainly not helping)

Garden border arches and 4x small mini trees have been installed now. The PixLite controller that will run these pixels has had its enclosure complete also.

It's been rain here for a week and weather radar estimates it will continue to rain until the end of November... :(
I'm putting up props when ever the rain stops for a moment.

The weather turned nice and went up to 32F (0c) degrees yesterday so I was able to get out and put up a horizontal on my garage and broke a piece that had to be fixed last night. It will go up today.

Well, here is what I put together this week.
4 stars for my mini trees and 4.5 window frames. The last needs to be glued together and have the zip ties changed. It was the prototype.

I put up my attempt at a full driveway arch a week ago. Looked good for a week but today the Perth sun was too much.
It's airseeder tube with a 20mm pvc conduit to try reinforce it.
Anyone attempted this and ideas on want to put inside to keep its shape?

Something different tonight;
I'm sorting out an esp32 that will be on a controller in the garage.

This will manage the power supply turning on, Falcon and Pi powering up. Other relays will control snow machines and extra blue flood lights (it gets dark in walk areas).
Remote control has different button patterns to trigger different things.

I already have one esp32 running the kitchen controller box.
"Keep off display" button tells FPP to play a sequence immediately.

All the pixel-based elements are up thanks to some nice weather, so I gave them a brief run earlier this evening.

As for the three tall candlepines, these have transitioned to GS8208 12V pixel strings after all. So much for my post from one month ago about changing them to dumb RGB 😆. The two smaller bushes between the candle-pines are not pixels yet. They will have to wait for another year because I've run out of the female 4-pin connectors that fit the strings supplied by Shiji, so no more extension cables. Still have some more older (not pixel) LED lights and other static items to put out before I can call it done.

How about everyone else, are you close to done with your own setup?

Well, this is what happened after spending the last 5 days trying to hang brand new everything up on my garage. Pinched a nerve in my back on the first day which slowed everything else down a bit but the overall goal for a long weekend was reached.

Edit: Seems I missed an update last week. This is what happened the prior weekend leading up to the holiday. Still have to sort out the middle window sometime this week but the second floor went well also.

So I had all of last week off work, to finish off the display.
My old man came round over a couple of days and we got the megatree constructed and installed. Simple design, single post 40NB Galv, 5.7m long, with just under 5m out of the ground.
4 & 1/2 foot trampoline base. Tall and skinny, but I am limited due to overhead wiring.
Topper from BooY raised and lowered with a winch, and some guy wires to hold it all together.
Pretty happy with how it all turned out.

Also got the speakers out in the yard. These are "outdoor" speakers, but designed for undercover patios and the like - I pinched them from my BBQ area. So to keep the majority of the rain off, I made these little covers for them out of old chlorine buckets.

And so the display is complete from a lighting perspective. The final piece of the puzzle is to get my push-to-listen sign sorted. A little bit of scripting on FPP, and waiting for the printed coro to arrive to assemble it with.

Pretty happy with how it looks all done!
