What would this allow me to do?

i have lots of off the shelf plug in lights and have been thinking of becoming more advanced. So what would this enable me to do?. sorry if that is a small question that creates a long answer.

You would use that controller to control 240V AC lights such as rope lights, older style motifs, etc.

With care you can use it to switch some light sets (like Big W strings) on and off.

Although the controller does support dimming, you can run into issues trying to dim light sets that contain a transformer.

By the way there are members selling used ones here cheaper than that eBay listing.

Realistically unless you have a heap of 240V motifs or specific 240V led lights like My-T-Brite you are better off with a DC LOR board or a DC DMX controller. They are a lot cheaper per channel and most light strings like Big W ones etc run off a DC controller. http://auschristmaslighting.com/wiki/Controllers#Feature_Comparisons
