Which connectors for new display?

Katekate, you may have a good idea there; if running 12 and 5 v from the power box, it doesn't matter if you connect a 5v or 12v led set, as long as the 12v is not connected on the 5v led set and visa versa - does that make sense???

with 4 pin connectors, you can do the 12v and 5v on different pins, and leave the wrong power line disconnected on the prop side

As one who is starting out with lightning this makes a lot of sense to me. Redundancy in connectors so I only have to have one type for spares/future use, yet will not have to worry about plugging in the wrong string to the wrong power supply. Has anyone used this idea? What was the pin out that you used on the plugs?

I am a fan of consistency, while I don’t expect a standard to be set by a regulating authority if most/all people use the same pinout on their plugs for 5v, 12v, data, and ground there would be less chance of error at the manufacturing level and causing the magic smoke to be released.
