Ive got a strip like this, its using IC 1812 tho. They are referred to as magic led or dream color.

Each led is controllable, which is awesome but a lil bit of a nightmare sequencing lol.

They do cost quite a bit more due to each led having an IC but look great!!

The chip's type is LPD6803 and it is an IC (Integrated Circuit). Sometimes the Chinese sellers leave off the LPD prefix and just say "6803 IC" or "IC 6803".

these are 12v, in the picture there is 2 leds per ic, an in the info he says there is 3 leds per ic.
also the 6803 is only 5bit colour dimming not 8bit like the ws2801 an ws2811
also in his hook up picture it shows 5v not 12v.

looks to me as if they found all sorts of pictures an made a product profile out of them
(even tho there incorrect pictures)
what sort of price is he asking for them, as Ray Wu has some Nice 12v ws2811 strips for $32

I got a 10m strip so thats 320 RGB chans to sequence, my strip is 32led's per metre. Its not really a nightmare :)

It did come with its own controller THX-2010 but Im hooking mine directly up to pixel controller (P2) and controlling it.

He even said himself, they were expensive, $11.00 per meter.

Personally i dont know why someone would go the 6803 strip over the 2811 strip these days based on colour depth and cost of the 2811.

I wasn't Planning on using them, just wanted to know if they could be used. But what I have seen was the 2811 strips cost even more than these.

Here's the link for the Ray Wu strip, http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/5m-led-digital-strip-DC12V-input-WS2811IC-256-scale-10pcs-IC-and-30pcs-5050-SMD-RGB/701799_568458133.html
That's $32 for 5m, ($6.40/m).
