Answered xLights Pictures: Duplicated on Tree!

Hi All,

I purchased a sequence for a tree and imported it to my layout correctly, rendered it to my size tree and it plays fine in xLights.

The issue im having is with the picture effects, the example gingerbread man below plays fine in xLights and there is only one gingerbread man.



But when played/viewed on the physical tree there is a second gingerbread man rotated 180 degrees above him, couldnt take a photo of the physical tree but see below the poorly illustrated photoshop of what it looks like on the physical tree...



Any ideas why its doing this?

I don’t see a picture of it on there, but could it be a render style?

Tools > Check Sequence and see if there are any issues.

Channel overlaps perhaps?

My guess is your string configuration on tree is wrong and your strings are twice the length that you have in setup eg you have 100 pixels in each tree string and are set up for 50. The reflection is then the fold back down at 50.

It’s a zig zag issue.

So the tree has 16 strings made up of 74 nodes per string. I have also attached a node layout PDF

Looks fine in xLights, but on the tree string one is up one pixel and string two is down one pixel string 3 is up one pixel and so on like this...

No it's not according to your description. Look at your PDF, each string starts at the bottom according to the diagram.

Answer this for us.

How many pixels high is your tree physically, is it 74 or 32?
How many actual ups and downs does it have, and
How many controller ports is it connecting to?

contradicting yourself there, as the node layout is for all your strings to be separate starting at the bottom. so half your tree is upside down.

as Keith wisely said, its a zigzag issue.

Your xlights model config is incorrect. You've selected the individual strings check box and the channel start numbers have been filled in, each string is starting at the bottom left (or. The bottom because each string is only vertical) but you said said it's wired Zig zag. Untick the "Individual Start Channels" check box, re-render and try again.

how many ports are you running it off? If you are going up and down per port and therefor have 8 "physical connections" to your controller then your layout should be 8 strings; 148 nodes; 2 strands
