I would be looking at pixelcontroller.com for a falcon controller and ray Wu or Paul Zhang on aliexpress for pixels. Depending on your tree style I would also be seeing boscoyostudio.com for pixel strip. If this is for this year wow time is tight. Better order today.

thank you for your input, yes I know I am on a tight schedule for this year, but I have major surgery on the calendar for mid next year and may not have the chance to do this ,

As for software, instead of LOR, have you had a look at xLights? A LOT of people here use it, and it's very easy to get help for in the chatroom, on the forums, or in Zoom meetings.

Xlights is free, controller from falconV3 or advatak pix16 (australian and available), lights from above suppliers.
Use strip for megatree and zip tie to 20 or 25mm pvc water pipe, holds its position nicely and can be stored away easily. Cheers Boof63

Xlights is free and runs fine on a laptop. Screen space will be a challenge but it's doable. Make sure you watch Sean's beginner video he recorded last week at videos.xlights.org. It will get you going.
