I beg to differ. Pebbles are larger. Pebbles originally got their name because they were about the size of pebble rocks. Seeds aren't much wider than the wires they are connected to.
Like a lot of terminology that is spread around our hobby, we need a compendium with a big section on terms...
Interesting idea. I wonder if this type of thing could be modified to react to a sensor detecting someone with their headlights on, pointed at the display. It would be great to have a message scroll across one (or all) of the matrix panels asking for them to turn their headlights off. Hmmmmm....
An "old school" method would be to basket weave a spare strip horizontally in and out of the vertical strips and zip tying the horizontal to the verticals.
We do this at about 1/3 of the way up the tree (most of ours are 12 to 16 feet tall).
Run, or in your case ski away. (Just kidding.) Welcome to the madness. This hobby is both frustrating and rewarding. Note that your pocket-book is always at risk.
There are a lot of great folks in the different forums and they have 'been there'. Don't hesitate to ask.
Hop over to the...
We have used Netgear for years. This year, due to sizing constraints in the new boxes, I've had to switch to a physically smaller TP-Link, though they have the same # of unmanaged ports. Both are working very well.
Technically (?) it isn't the size of the wire but it is the burst strength. With that said, our 1/4" has been working just fine on our trees (and other props) that are the size that you mentioned. The 1/4" rope we have has a working load of 1400 lb. Overkill, but we just use the same across...
There is the infamous 2 to 1 ratio. (Definately not always followed.) Twice as tall as wide (at the bottom).
Just remember that when it comes down to it, it is whatever you like when you look at it.
You may want to relook at the advert for the pixels. These pixels (as are the majority) are designed to fit in a 12mm hole. The LED itself, in the middle of the package, is 8mm.
At the recent Heartland Mini, we were shown some pebble pixels that had a 4mm/5mm shaft. I thought it was from...
Actually, we sequence almost all of our display (out of 40 sequences last year, 4 were from outside sources). We do, however, change the layout from year to year and make changes to the props as well as add new ones (we love variety). The import is used to reassign from one year to another. It...
After decades of lighting the house with AC of every variety (straight strings, icicles, flashers), I saw a certain "Wizards in Winter" on the net. Having a chance to purchase a display (still AC) I jumped at the chance and promptly sold it to our local drive through (all static) display. The...
