well I have everything working now except getting this to control the lor controller. I have it controling a dmx flood with no trouble. Tried every wire configuration I could find for a LOR crossover cable and nothing works... very frustrating.

I'm not sure if they do but the ones I got from them are definitely different. Appearance seems a bit higher quality based upon the soldering and components on the strip. Hopefully they do last a lot longer than the others. Put them up yesterday so I guess we will see... The old ones were not...

Ok great. I hope is just soldering. Maybe it can't handle the intense sun during the day followed by frigid nights. Touching up some solder joint when they go bad seems way easier than replacing sections.... That is really the only thing that seems to make logical sense to me based upon these...

I'll give that a shot tomorrow. I'm curious, if the resistor is whats failing is that something that I could just replace, rather than replacing the section of strip? Or does the bad resistor cause the chip to go bad?

They are ziptied to 1/2" pvc. Originally I did have them too tight, but have since loosened everything and this problem still occurs. I was having regular solder breakage of splices but since I loosened everything I haven't had any.

I do live in an area where we have big temp fluctuations. I was having a problem with broken solder joints but it was due to me having cable ties to tight and not allowing for the contraction the strips needed. We see temps vary about 45 degrees Fahrenheit through a typical day. The issue is...

Well I just turned on my lights for the first time since halloween, 21 bad chips. They have been sitting, in place, undisturbed, no power and 21 bad pixels. So incredibly frustrated!

What I've found to be interesting is that they don't appear to be going bad during the show. I lost a number of them before the show started. They would be working fine one day then be off all night (with voltage running) the. The next day a few would be bad. I changed things to not have power...

Just went out and installed some wall timers to control the circuit that runs the lights. They will now be without power except for the show and 30 minutes padding on each end. Hopefully that will help!
