Pixel speed on the P12S and latest firmware v3.4b

Thanks David. I uploaded this new firmware but I still had my flickering issue. I was able to correct it though with replacing my null pixel. Come to find out it was from another order (likely a WS2811 copy) and wouldn't repeat the signal properly likely because it ran on slightly different...

Pixel speed on the P12S and latest firmware v3.4b

Can someone post this latest firmware? I tried contacting Ed but I haven't heard back from him. Thanks!

Pixel speed on the P12S and latest firmware v3.4b

Thanks for the info guys. I believe in my early build the speeds were not calculated correctly and off by a decimal place so I'm running a little higher than everyone else. Request: Can someone upload their copy of 3.4b or point me to a working link? Thanks!

Pixel speed on the P12S and latest firmware v3.4b

Hey guys, I'm having an intermittent issue with a few strands of pixels and I'm wondering if its related to the speed I'm using. In the bootloader documentation from Ed he mentions speeds of 3200-4000kbps but I'm running 1/10th of that. I received a very early build date (Dec '14) before it...

Source for regulator/buck used in J1Sys Boards

You can also get 3amp ones a bit larger in size for around a 1$ each on eBay shipped. Search for buck converter. I use them on my 5v pixels. Plus u can sent them to any voltage. I set mine at 5.5-5.7v

    a cheap mega tree

Love the idea of a trampoline. I ended up using PVC pipe and zip ties to old the end down. Now regarding the topper, I used a 10" skillet and drilled 16 holes and put bolts in it :) Not the cleanest but worked great!

    P12s/P12x Ranges

Voltage drop is a proportional to wire size. Cat6, for example, will only provide less voltage drop IF it is 23awg vs. typical 24awg for cat5 and most Cat6 I've seen is 24awg so you wouldn't benefit from it. Assuming you get 23awg: 23awg=0.02036ohms/ft 24awg=0.02567ohms/ft so 23awg has...

    P12s/P12x Ranges

I've had good luck running 2811s 24ft (7.3m) from my P12S. I have 3 of my outputs running just fine with no null pixels using cat5 wire (4/3/1 gnd/pos/signal configuration). I'd recommend the P12S because with the D you will need s receiver for every output which is going to be more complex and...

Pixlite and it's string effect configuration options

I'm a J1Sys user but after checking out the Pixlite, it outspecs it on a number of items so I'm considering purchasing one. However, at least with the P2, I can configure multiple different color mappings (RGB->GBR, RGB->RBG, etc.) on the same output, see attached. I didn't see anything in the...

    Firmware updates 2014?

Yeah I'm curious about this. Need to purchase a new controller and without multiple universes per output, the Pixlite out specs the P12S by quite a bit... Ed, you mentioned this is being worked, any idea on when it will be ready?

    Ray RGB Flood question

So how do you program the channel? Do you need one of those in-line DMX channel selectors or are there dip switches?

Configuring both a P2 and D2 in Vixen

Cool thanks for the tip for unicast. So if I use multicast, how do I map out the channels? I guess I'm unclear on how Vixen knows what channel goes to what controller (P2 or D2). Do I configure this through the ethcon?

Configuring both a P2 and D2 in Vixen

So I've set up the IP's as the following: P2 - 10.10.10.10 (running 500 nodes or 1500 channels) D2 - 10.10.10.11 (Running Ray's 27 RGB controller) I have both connected to a router. In Vixen the only options I have are multicast local area connection. How does Vixen know which is which? Do...

    Controlling dummy RGB with WS2811

Hey guys, I'm knew to all this and just have a few questions. I ordered 10 2811 strips from Ray and a P2 from J1sys. My question is, can I just sacrifice one node of the 2811 and use the RGB output that would be normally just controlling those 3 RGB LEDs and add a RGB amplifier to connect to...
